Recently, analysts have published a lot of forecasts predicting the US dollar depreciation.
Former Morgan Stanley chief economist Stephen Roach released a new portion of gloomy predictions for the greenback. He foresees the currency’s slump amid the increasing US national debt and numerous economic problems.
"That’s playing out even more dramatically than even I thought when I wrote about it. This is just the early stages. The pressure on the dollar is likely to be even more intense," Roach said.
"With the infection rate soaring right now, a still vulnerable US economy is likely to experience further lockdowns," the Yale University senior fellow added. He also emphasized the consequences of the mass money printing and numerous sanctions. Thus, in the worst-case scenario, the US dollar will lose 30% by the end of the next year. Moreover, it will be almost impossible to halt this free fall.
