Elon Musk is something of a dark horse. He is known for his eloquence, which has repeatedly led him to conflicts and generated many rumors. The businessman often becomes the hero of various stories and headlines with an unusual presentation of facts.
Now, someone has created a story, which unveiled the fact that Elon Musk wants to become Apple’s CEO. Is it really true?
The rumors were caused by the tale “Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Bet of the Century” written by Wall Street Journal reporter Tim Higgins. It reads that five years ago, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook offered Musk to buy out a car manufacturing company, but Musk insisted on becoming Apple’s CEO as a condition of the sale. Then, the businessmen quarreled. And now, both of them deny having the conversation.
However, the reaction to Tim Higgins’ book proves the opposite. During the conference at the end of July devoted to the quarterly income of Tesla, Elon Musk bitterly criticized Apple. He supposes that the company uses more cobalt in its batteries than Tesla. Earlier, the businessman accused Apple of the noncompetitive struggle for the market.
Some analysts believe that Musk’s behavior could be explained by Apple’s plan to produce its own electric vehicle, Titan, by 2024. The situation is also aggravated by the fact that the new Apple project is headed by Doug Field, who stepped down as the senior vice president of engineering at Tesla, Inc. three years ago.
