According to Business Insider, Berkshire Hathaway which belongs to legendary investor Warren Buffet has likely made $30 billion on Apple this year. The tech giant’s stock has surged 25%, boosting the value of Berkshire Hathaway's stake to $149 billion.
In late December 2022, Buffett’s company owned 916 million Apple shares. Meanwhile, Berkshire's underlying value of Apple stock was $31 billion, the 2021 report showed. The Oracle of Omaha has praised the tech behemoth and labeled it a “family jewel” and “probably the best business” he knows.
This year, Apple shares have spiked by 25%, surpassing the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ Composite by 6% and 15% respectively. The rise has boosted Berkshire Hathaway’s stake to $149 billion from $119 billion. That equals the company’s 22% market capitalization.
Buffet says Apple shares are the best holdings in his investment portfolio. In fact, the legendary investor is the tech giant’s largest shareholder with a 5.8% stake.
