German stocks saw a slight decline on Wednesday as former President Donald Trump's selection of Senator JD Vance as his running mate signaled a firm shift of the Republican Party towards trade protectionism.
Trump has pledged to intensify the trade war by imposing 60 percent tariffs on goods from China and a 10 percent global tariff.
The benchmark DAX fell by 26 points, or 0.3 percent, to close at 18,472, following a 0.4 percent drop in the previous session.
Allianz shares slipped by 0.5 percent after the insurer announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Singapore's Income Insurance for approximately $1.6 billion.
In contrast, Adidas shares surged nearly 4 percent. The sportswear manufacturer increased its full-year guidance after posting an 11 percent rise in revenue during the second quarter of the fiscal year 2024.
