Canon (CAJ) has officially unveiled two new professional full-frame mirrorless cameras: the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II.
The EOS R1, a flagship model within Canon's EOS 1-series, is noted for its reliability and weather-resistant build, making it ideal for professionals in photojournalism, sports, and wildlife photography.
Marketed as "Ahead of the Game", the EOS R1 boasts a continuous still-image shooting speed of up to 40 fps and features a Cross-type AF imaging sensor designed to focus on subjects with linear detail more effectively. It also excels in video capabilities, read-out speed, and incorporates a back-illuminated stacked 24.2-megapixel full-frame sensor alongside a new processing system for extremely fast data processing.
On the other hand, the EOS R5 Mark II is designed to meet the needs of sports and wildlife photographers, journalists, video producers, and visual creators alike.
The EOS R5 Mark II features a back-illuminated stacked 45-megapixel full-frame sensor and a new processing system for rapid reading. It also boasts a more advanced and powerful AF system.
Described by Canon as "Master the Moment", the EOS R5 Mark II includes Cinema EOS video features such as the Custom Picture color profile with Canon Log 2, False Color Waveform Monitor, 4-Channel Audio with 24-bit LPCM, and Pre-recording up to 5 seconds.
Both new cameras also debut the DIGIC Accelerator, which utilizes deep learning processing to rapidly analyze large volumes of data and supports Dual Pixel Intelligent AF.
Canon has announced that the EOS R1 will be available in the Fall at a price of $6,299. The EOS R5 Mark II, priced at $4,299, is expected to be released in August.
