Alstom Q3 Sales Rise, Orders Down; Confirms FY25 Outlook

Alstom SA (AOMFF.PK, ALS.L), the French manufacturer of rolling stock, has announced an increase in sales during its third quarter, although it experienced a dip in orders. Furthermore, the company has reaffirmed its financial projections for fiscal year 2025.

In the latest quarter, Alstom recorded sales of 4.67 billion euros, representing a 7.9% increase compared to last year’s 4.33 billion euros. On an organic scale, sales rose by 9.8%.

The production of rolling stock reached a total of 1,098 cars during this period. However, the company saw its orders drop to 4.26 billion euros, a 21.9% decline from the previous year's 5.45 billion euros, with an organic decrease of 22.2%.

Orders for Services and Signalling comprised 65% of the total order intake for the third quarter. Geographically, Europe was responsible for 64% of Alstom's order intake during this period.

Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom's Chief Executive Officer, stated, "The Q3 orders highlight Alstom's strategic efforts in rebalancing its backlog portfolio within a supportive rail market, coupled with a robust pipeline of opportunities. Our Signalling and Services sectors are advancing positively, yet our Rolling Stock division is still grappling with supply chain challenges. We are implementing cost efficiency measures as planned and approaching the final stages of our integration process, which allows us to maintain confidence in our financial targets for FY 2024/25."

Looking forward, Alstom maintains its forecast of approximately 5% organic sales growth and an adjusted EBIT margin of around 6.5%, supported by strong market demand.

For the entire year, the production output for rolling stock is anticipated to be between 4,300 and 4,400 cars.
