In March 2025, U.S. manufacturing output increased by 0.3%, marking the fifth consecutive month of growth, following a more robust 1% rise in February. Production of durable goods saw a 0.6% increase, with notable contributions from motor vehicles, which grew by 1.2%, and aerospace equipment, up by 1.8%. This growth was reflected across various categories. In contrast, nondurable goods remained stable overall, as gains in food, chemicals, and apparel were counterbalanced by declines in paper, printing, and petroleum products. Meanwhile, the "other manufacturing" category, which includes sectors like publishing and logging, experienced a 0.5% increase. Capacity utilization also nudged up to 77.3%, remaining slightly below its historical average. For the first quarter, factory output expanded by 5.1%.
