In March 2025, the Netherlands experienced a slight rise in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, reaching 3.9%, up from 3.8% recorded for the two preceding months. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 3,000 compared to the previous month, totaling 395,000—the highest figure since September 2021. In contrast, employment figures saw an upward trend, with 5,000 more individuals employed, bringing the total to a nine-month high of 9.816 million. The labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 76% for the third month in a row. During this period, 190,000 people were recipients of unemployment benefits. A year earlier, in March 2024, the unemployment rate was lower by 0.3 percentage points, standing at 3.6%.
