On Monday, Indonesia unveiled a new economic stimulus package valued at IDR 16.23 trillion (approximately USD 989.3 million) aimed at invigorating economic growth, as stated by Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, according to Reuters. The deployment of these stimulus measures is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025 and into the following year, Hartarto informed reporters. This announcement follows recent data revealing that Indonesia's economy expanded by 5.12% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, rising from 4.87% in the first quarter. This represents the most rapid growth since the second quarter of 2023, primarily fueled by enhanced growth in fixed investment and private consumption. Last month, the government upheld its GDP growth target for 2025 at 5.2%, despite challenges posed by new US tariffs set at 19%—a reduction from the 32% previously threatened in April, yet still above the former average of less than 10%.
