Retail sales in Denmark experienced a 2.5% year-on-year increase in August 2025, a slight decrease from the previously revised 2.6% growth seen in July. This slowdown was primarily attributed to a persistent drop in sales of food and groceries, which fell by 0.6%, compared to a 1.2% decline in the prior month. Furthermore, growth in the sale of other consumer goods also saw a deceleration, increasing by 4.9% as opposed to 5.8% previously. Conversely, sales activity for clothing picked up, advancing to 4% compared to 2.2% earlier. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales rose by 0.3% in August, down from a 0.5% increase in the previous period.
