In August 2025, Macau's annual inflation rate increased to 0.27%, a rise from the four-month low of 0.12% recorded in July. The cost of food and non-alcoholic beverages climbed to 0.44% compared to July's 0.30%. Housing and fuels saw a price increase to 0.33% from 0.22%, while health-related costs rose to 0.58% up from 0.54%. Additionally, the prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose to 0.69% from 0.60%. A rebound occurred in household furnishings and services, where costs shifted to 0.21% from a previous decline of -0.20%. However, the growth in prices slowed for recreation and culture, dropping to 2.45% from 3.21%, as well as for miscellaneous goods and services, which saw a modest decrease to 1.54% from 1.62%. Despite a continued decline, the downward trend in transport prices slowed, showing a smaller contraction of -1.27% compared to -2.30%, and for clothing and footwear, which improved from a decline of -2.54% to -2.09%. Month-over-month, consumer prices rose by 0.11% in August, maintaining the same pace as observed in July.
