US Personal Income Rises Slightly More than Expected

In August 2025, U.S. personal income saw a rise of 0.4% from the previous month, reaching $26.280 trillion. This growth was consistent with July's increase and slightly surpassed market expectations of a 0.3% improvement. This period marked the third straight month of rising personal incomes, driven primarily by a 0.3% increase in employee compensation, which itself was supported by wage growth of 0.3% and a 0.4% rise in wage supplements. Furthermore, personal current transfer receipts climbed by 0.6% in August, following a period of no change in the previous month. Additional increments were observed across other categories: proprietors' income, including inventory valuation and capital consumption, remained stable at a 0.9% increase; rental income of individuals with capital consumption adjustment grew by 0.4%, up from 0.2%; and income receipts on personal assets rose by 0.1%, compared to a 0.2% increase earlier. Concurrently, disposable personal income rose by 0.4%, aligning with the growth rate in July, while real disposable personal income saw a modest increase of 0.1%, following a 0.2% rise reported in the previous month.
