FX.co ★ Thailand Export Growth Hits 42-Month High

Thailand's export sector experienced a significant upswing, expanding by 19% year-on-year to reach a four-month peak of USD 30.97 billion in September 2025. This growth rate is the most rapid since March 2022, a notable increase from the 5.8% rise observed in August, and well above market predictions which had anticipated a 9% increase. The surge was primarily fueled by stronger exports to the United States, which soared by 35.3% compared to the previous 12.8% in August. In terms of commodities, exports of agro-industrial products rose by 4.1%, underpinned by solid sales of wheat products and other processed foods, which increased by 11.1%, and refined sugar, which surged by 42.8%. Industrial product exports saw a notable rise of 26.4%, driven mainly by substantial sales of computers, equipment, and components (57.9%) as well as telephones and parts (64.9%). Conversely, agricultural product exports declined by 18.2%, with significant decreases in fresh and chilled fruit (-55.5%) and rice (-31.4%). Exports also witnessed growth in other critical markets including China (3.2%), ASEAN countries (20.4%), Japan (6.2%), and the EU (11.6%). For the year to date, total shipments ascended by 13.9% amounting to USD 254.15 billion.
