In August 2025, retail sales in Greece experienced a notable year-on-year increase of 3.9%, up from a 2.1% growth in the preceding month. This figure represents the most robust expansion since April. A significant contribution to this growth came from heightened sales in both the food sector, which surged by 4.6% compared to 2.1% in July, and the non-food sector, which advanced by 7.6%, up from 5%. Conversely, sales in the automotive fuel category saw a decline, dropping to -1.9% from the previous month's 1.5% increase. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity reported a 0.2% rise, recovering from a 1.5% decrease in July 2025.
