In September 2025, the seasonally adjusted total number of dwelling approvals in Australia rose by 12% from the previous month, reaching 17,019 units. This aligns with earlier projections and represents a recovery from a 3.6% decline in August. Specifically, approvals for private-sector dwellings, excluding houses, saw a significant increase of 26.0%, reversing a 3.8% decrease in the month prior, while approvals for private-sector houses grew by 4%, following a 1% decrease. By region, there were notable increases in approvals in Victoria (41.3%), New South Wales (30.4%), and Tasmania (11.7%). However, declines were observed in Queensland (-11.3%), Western Australia (-5.1%), and South Australia (-0.9%). On an annual basis, total dwelling approvals increased by 15.3%, building on a 4.8% growth recorded in the previous month.
