In September 2025, New Zealand experienced a 9.6% increase in visitor arrivals compared to the same month the previous year, totaling 248,600 visitors. This rise was predominantly propelled by a notable influx from Australia, with Australian visitors numbering 139,216, marking an increase of 15,800. Additional increases were observed from Taiwan (+900), Malaysia (+600), the United Kingdom (+600), South Africa (+600), and the United States (+500). Overall, the visitor numbers for September 2025 reached 95% of the 261,800 visitors recorded in September 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Australians represented 56% of the total visitors, an increase from 51% in September 2019. In comparison, China accounted for 8% of the visitors, the United States 6%, and both the United Kingdom and India 3%. This data underscores a robust recovery in travel, particularly from nearby Australia, along with recoveries from other key markets, including the United States.
