In September 2025, South Africa experienced a notable 5.9% year-on-year increase in gold production, marking the most substantial annual rise since July 2023. This comes after a 3.6% decline in August. The surge in gold production contributed 0.6 percentage points to the overall year-on-year growth in total mining output.
