In October 2025, passenger car registrations in the European Union rose by 5.8% year-on-year, reaching a four-month peak of 916,609 units, following a 10.0% increase in September. This marks the fourth consecutive month of growth, with notable gains observed in three out of the EU’s four largest automotive markets. Specifically, registrations climbed by 15.9% in Spain, 7.8% in Germany, and 2.9% in France, while they saw a slight decline in Italy by 0.5%. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) sector saw a remarkable increase in registrations, which soared by 38.6%, fueled especially by substantial growth in Spain (90.1%), France (63.2%), Germany (47.7%), and the Netherlands (27.4%). During the first ten months of 2025, total EU car registrations experienced a 1.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, BEV sales climbed 16.4% to 1.5 million units, making up 16.4% of the EU market.
