In October 2025, Finland's unemployment rate elevated to 9.6%, a significant rise from 8.1% in the same month of the previous year, marking the highest rate observed since June. The number of unemployed individuals surged by 48,000 compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 276,000. Simultaneously, the workforce saw an increase with 25,000 more people employed, bringing the total number of employed individuals to 2.611 million. Notably, the unemployment rate among young adults aged 15 to 24 escalated to a five-month peak of 22.5%, reflecting a notable increase of 6.3 percentage points from the prior year. Additionally, the activity rate for those aged 15 to 74 rose to 69.2%, up from 67.7% the previous year, while the employment rate for individuals aged 20 to 64 experienced a slight increase to 76.3%, compared to 76.1% a year earlier.
