Retail sales in Estonia saw a notable increase of 4% year-on-year in October 2025, up from a 3.7% increase in September. This represents the most significant growth in retail activity since June. The surge was driven by a faster increase in sales for automotive fuel at specialized stores, which rose to 24.9% compared to 21.8% in September, and for textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods, which saw a jump to 7.7% from just 0.8%. The decline in turnover volume for food, beverages, or tobacco narrowed to -2.4%, improving from -4.2%, while sales via mail order and internet channels also saw a reduced decline of -4.8%, up from -6.4%.
In contrast, the growth rate for sales in medical and orthopedic goods, as well as cosmetics and toilet articles, slowed to 1.5% from 5%. The same trend was seen in the sales of computers, peripherals, software, and telecommunications equipment, which slowed to 20.7% from the previous 28.5%, as well as in the sales of second-hand goods in stores and other retail not conducted in traditional outlets, which dropped to 4.3% from 8.1%.
On a monthly basis, retail activity increased by 5.9% in October, recovering from a stagnant performance in the prior month.
