FX.co ★ Cyprus Retail Sales Growth at 6-Month High

Retail sales in Cyprus witnessed a notable 10.1% increase year-on-year in October 2025, up from a 9% rise in September. This represents the most substantial growth in retail activity since May. The surge was largely fueled by robust sales in specialized stores dealing with food, beverages, and tobacco, which soared by 19.2% compared to a previous 15.3% increase. Automotive fuel sales also saw a rise of 6.4%, up from 3.5%, while sales of flowers, plants, watches, jewelry, optical goods, and second-hand items rose by 7.3%, slightly higher than the 6.8% noted earlier. Conversely, growth decelerated in non-specialized stores for food, beverages, and tobacco, which slowed to 8.7% from 9.3%. Similarly, sales of other household equipment grew by 10.4%, down from 12.8%, and clothing and footwear saw a significant slowdown, rising 15.8% compared to the previous 24.4%. Despite the ongoing decline in sales of cultural and recreational goods, the contraction eased slightly, showing a decrease of 1.2% versus 1.6% earlier. Cumulatively, retail trade experienced a 7.8% growth on a yearly basis.
