In October 2025, Italy's unemployment rate decreased to 6%, surpassing expectations of 6.1% and showing an improvement from September's rate of 6.2%. The number of jobseekers dropped by 59,000 compared to the previous month, totaling 1.528 million. Concurrently, the employment rate increased to 62.7%, bolstered by a rise of 75,000 in employed individuals across various demographics, employment types, and age groups. Notably, youth unemployment experienced a significant decline, falling to 19.8% from 21.7%. The inactivity rate remained unchanged at 33.2%. During the August to October period, employment levels remained largely stable in comparison to the previous quarter, while unemployment decreased by 71,000 and inactivity saw a slight uptick. On an annual scale, the number of employed individuals grew by 224,000, spurred by an increase among permanent employees and the self-employed, while both unemployment and inactivity decreased from October 2024.
