This downturn followed a 3.2% increase seen in the previous month and aligned with preliminary forecasts. The data showed a reduction in private-sector house approvals across most states, with Victoria experiencing a 6.6% drop, New South Wales decreasing by 2.2%, South Australia by 0.5%, and Western Australia by 0.1%. In contrast, Queensland was the exception, reporting a 2.7% rise in approvals for the month. Comparing annual data, there was an overall increase of 1.3% in private house approvals.
