In October 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines rose to 5.0%, up from 3.9% in the same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed people increased to 2.54 million from 1.97 million in October 2024. Simultaneously, employment numbers grew, with 48.62 million individuals employed compared to 48.16 million a year prior. Within the key industry sectors, services continued to dominate, encompassing 60.6% of the employed workforce, followed by agriculture at 21.5%, and industry at 17.9%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate increased slightly, reaching 63.6% from 63.3% a year before, reflecting a rise in the number of Filipinos aged 15 and over participating in the labor market. On average, employed individuals logged 41.3 hours per week, a minor increase from the 41.0 hours noted in September 2024.
