The Business Tendency Index in Uganda experienced a rise, reaching 57.2 in December 2025, up from a revised figure of 56.2 in the preceding month. Improvements were noted across several areas, specifically in the outlook for the business climate over the next three months, which increased to 59.2 from 58.2 in November. Order volumes with suppliers also rose significantly to 60.6 from 57.1, indicating heightened activity. Furthermore, sector competition saw a slight uptick to 67.4 from 66.9, accompanied by an enhanced financial situation, which improved to 54.3 from 52.8. Access to credit saw a modest rise, moving to 43.2 from 42.9, while expectations for employment increased to 53.1 from 51.3. The stock of finished products also expanded to 40.6 from 37.3. Confidence within sectors showed notable gains in agriculture, with a sharp increase to 56.9 from 46.7, and in financial services, which inched up to 77.9 from 77.8. However, sentiment declined in construction, falling to 46.8 from 48.1, in wholesale trade, which decreased to 51.4 from 52.0, and in other services, dipping to 58.6 from 61.9.
