Ecuador witnessed a rise in its annual inflation rate, escalating to 1.91% in December 2025 from the previous month’s 1.05%. Notable price increases occurred in sectors such as housing and utilities, which surged by 16.97%, healthcare at 2.95%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 1.69%, restaurants and hotels at 1.50%, and the food and non-alcoholic beverages category at 1.30%. Conversely, deflation was observed in categories like clothing and footwear, with a decrease of 5.29%, recreation and culture dropping by 2.77%, and communications declining by 1.19%. On a monthly scale, the consumer price index fell by 0.14% in December, following a 0.44% reduction in November.
