FX.co ★ Swedish Jobless Rate Rises to 8.3%

In December 2025, Sweden's unemployment rate increased to 8.3%, up from 8% in December of the previous year. The total number of unemployed individuals rose by 23,100, reaching 476,800. This figure includes 212,000 women and 265,000 men, with respective unemployment rates of 7.7% for women and 8.9% for men. There was also an increase in unemployment among young people aged 15 to 24, with 5,600 more individuals unemployed than the previous year, bringing the total to 141,200 and resulting in a youth unemployment rate of 21.5%. On a more positive note, employment saw a rise, with 61,600 more people employed, totaling 5.252 million, thus raising the employment rate by 0.6 percentage points to 68.1% and increasing the labor force participation rate by 0.9 percentage points to 75%. The average total number of hours worked weekly reached 151.3 million. Seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate registered at 9%.
