U.S. futures presented a mixed outcome on Tuesday, following a robust session the day prior. Futures for the S&P 500 experienced a gain of 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures advanced by 0.7%. Conversely, Dow Jones futures declined by nearly 160 points. Investors were absorbing a new round of corporate earnings while anticipating the Federal Reserve's forthcoming monetary policy decision scheduled for tomorrow. In pre-market trading, Micron Technology shares soared by 5% after announcing an expansion of its memory-chip capacity. RTX saw an increase of over 3% following better-than-expected revenue figures, and General Motors shares rose by 4.5% after the company revised its 2026 guidance upwards. United Parcel Service (UPS) added 3.7% after surpassing earnings and revenue expectations. On the negative side, UnitedHealth’s shares plummeted nearly 17% following the company’s warning of its first annual revenue decline in thirty years. The healthcare sector was already experiencing stress, with CVS Health shares falling by 13% and Humana shares declining by 17%, in response to the U.S. government's proposal to freeze payments to private Medicare plans next year.
