The South African rand experienced a decline of more than 1%, settling at approximately 15.9 against the US dollar. This depreciation was influenced by declining gold prices and a stronger US dollar. Despite this, the rand remains close to its highs from June 2022, supported by favorable domestic fundamentals and high commodity prices, especially for precious and base metals.
