Latvia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 336.6 million in December 2025 from EUR 370.3 million a year earlier, as export growth outpaced that of imports. Exports increased by 2.7% year-on-year to EUR 1,516 million, mainly supported by higher sales of electrical appliances and equipment (up 16.2%), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (up 16.1%), and machinery and mechanical devices (up 13.5%). Export shipments expanded to both EU countries (up 9%) and CIS countries (up 20.9%).
Imports inched up by 0.3% to EUR 1,852 million, driven by increased purchases of electrical appliances and equipment (up 25.5%), pharmaceutical products (up 11.9%), and land vehicles and parts (up 4.6%). By contrast, imports from EU countries declined by 2.1%, and those from CIS countries fell by 21.7%, while imports from other countries rose by 25%.
