Ireland’s HICP Inflation Eases to 2.4% in February, Extending Disinflation Trend

Ireland’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) inflation eased slightly to 2.4% year-over-year in February 2026, down from 2.5% in January 2026. The latest reading, updated on 2 March 2026, confirms a continued moderation in price growth compared with the same month a year earlier.

The February figure, measured on a year-over-year basis, shows that consumer prices in Ireland are still rising but at a marginally slower pace than at the start of the year. The previous indicator for January 2026 similarly reflected annual inflation conditions by comparing price changes against January of the prior year.

The small step down from 2.5% to 2.4% underscores a gradual disinflation trend rather than a sharp slowdown, suggesting that while inflationary pressures remain present in the Irish economy, they are continuing to ease on an annual basis. Policymakers and markets will now watch incoming data to assess whether this moderation proves durable in the months ahead.
