Bulgaria’s annual inflation rate slowed to 3.3% in February 2026 from 3.5% in January, reaching its lowest level since December 2024 and in line with preliminary estimates. The deceleration was driven mainly by softer price growth in several categories: furnishing, household equipment, and routine maintenance (0.5% vs 1.4% in January); housing and utilities (3.6% vs 3.7%); recreation, sport, and culture (15.7% vs 16.3%); restaurants and accommodation services (9.1% vs 9.2%); and personal care, social protection, and other miscellaneous goods and services (6.0% vs 6.1%).
Transport (-1.9% vs -1.4%) and information and communication (-3.1% vs -2.2%) continued to register price declines. In contrast, inflation edged slightly higher for clothing and footwear (0.4% vs 0.3%). Prices were unchanged for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9%); alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics (6.2%); education services (8.6%); and insurance and financial services (0.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in February, down from a 0.6% increase in January.
