FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Falls Further to Near 2-Week Low

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks freight rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, fell for a fourth consecutive session on Tuesday, declining about 2.4% to 1,989 points, its lowest level since March 12. The capesize index, reflecting rates for vessels that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, dropped for a second straight day, losing 3.2% to 2,844 points. The panamax index, which covers ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, slid 2.6% to 1,839 points. Among smaller vessel segments, the supramax index edged down 0.3% to 1,215 points.
