The Taiwan Stock Exchange TAIEX climbed nearly 3% to around 33,570 on Wednesday, breaking a four-session losing streak and tracking a broader rebound across Asian markets, as investors grew more optimistic about a potential easing of tensions in the Iran conflict.
US President Donald Trump stated that his administration is engaged in talks with Iran, although Tehran has denied that any negotiations are underway, even as the US expands its military presence in the region.
The electronics and technology sector led the rally, with market bellwether TSMC advancing more than 3% and Delta Electronics jumping over 9%. Other notable gainers included Hon Hai Precision Industry (+1.5%), MediaTek (+1.6%), and ASE Technology (+6.2%).
Most sectors finished higher, with gains seen in finance, producer manufacturing, and process industries.
