FX.co ★ Hungary Trade Surplus Narrows in February

Hungary’s trade surplus narrowed to EUR 665 million in February 2026 from EUR 1,006 million in the same month a year earlier, as export growth lagged behind that of imports. Nevertheless, it marked the largest surplus since June 2025. Exports rose 2.6% year-on-year to EUR 12,695 million, supported by higher shipments of machinery and transport equipment, partially offset by weaker exports of manufactured goods. Imports, meanwhile, increased 5.9% to EUR 12,030 million, boosted by stronger purchases of machinery and transport equipment. Over the first two months of the year, the trade surplus declined to EUR 957 million from EUR 1,775 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.
