FX.co ★ Uruguay Inflation Eases in March

Uruguay’s annual inflation rate eased to 2.94% in March 2026, down from 3.11% in February, marking the lowest level since August 1956. Price growth slowed across most categories: inflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages decelerated to 2.43% from 4.32%, while housing and utilities dropped to 3.99% from 5.01%. Deflation in clothing and footwear deepened, with prices falling 4.33% after a 3.86% decline previously, whereas deflation in transport moderated to 2.2% from 3.58%. By contrast, prices rose more quickly in information and communication, where inflation picked up to 3.76% from 3.53%, and in recreation, sports, and culture, where it accelerated to 2.85% from 2.49%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.41%, up from a 0.35% rise in February.
