South Korea’s Composite Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) dropped to 99.2 in April 2026 from 107.0 in March, falling below the neutral 100 mark for the first time since early 2025 and posting its sharpest monthly decline since December 2024. Sentiment regarding current living standards slipped to 91, while expectations for future living standards declined to 92. Perceptions of future household income eased to 98, and expectations for future spending moderated to 108. Assessments of current domestic economic conditions plunged 18 points to 68, and expectations for the economy’s future performance fell to 79. Overall confidence weakened amid heightened energy price pressures and market volatility stemming from the conflict in the Middle East. Inflation expectations stood at 2.9% for the year ahead and 2.6% for both the three-year and five-year horizons.
