The capesize index, reflecting earnings for ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 22 points to 4,304. The panamax index, covering vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, added 9 points to reach 1,966. Among the smaller segments, the supramax index edged up 2 points to 1,542.
