US single-family home prices backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rose 0.1% in March 2026, in line with expectations, after a downwardly revised 0.1% decline in February. For the first quarter, prices were up 0.5% from the previous quarter. On a year-over-year basis, home values increased 1.7% between Q1 2025 and Q1 2026.
House prices increased in 42 states, with Illinois posting the strongest gain at 7.3%. Prices fell in eight states and the District of Columbia, with Colorado recording the largest decline at 2.4%.
