Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator fell to -28.3 in May 2026 from -27.4 in April, reaching its lowest level since March 2023 and pointing to weakening household sentiment. The decline was mainly driven by a more pessimistic outlook on savings (-19.3 vs -14.1 in April) and growing concerns about current financial conditions (-13.4 vs -12.5).
By contrast, households were slightly less negative about the general economic outlook (-44.0 vs -45.9), indicating some resilience despite the overall deterioration in confidence. Worries about future unemployment also eased marginally (36.6 vs 37.1). However, perceptions of their past financial situation continued to worsen (-17.2 vs -15.5).
