Chile’s IMACEC economic activity index declined 1.2% year-on-year in April 2026, following a 0.2% drop in March and registering its steepest contraction since March 2023. The downturn was led by a 5.4% decrease in goods-producing sectors, with mining output tumbling 11.8% and industrial activity slipping 0.4%. By contrast, trade grew 2.1%, and services activity inched up 0.8%. On a month-on-month basis, the IMACEC fell 4.8%, partially unwinding the strong 15.1% surge seen in March.
