Estonia’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.7% in May 2026, up from 3.4% in April, reaching its highest level since January. The pickup was driven mainly by faster price growth in several categories: housing (5.4% vs 3.7% in April), transport (10.4% vs 9.2%), recreation and culture (4.2% vs 1.5%), information and communication (1.7% vs 1.0%), and restaurants and accommodation services (3.2% vs 3.1%).
At the same time, deflation moderated in clothing and footwear (-3.9% vs -4.3%) and in insurance and financial services (-11.1% vs -11.8%). By contrast, price growth slowed in several other categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs 2.6%), alcohol and tobacco (8.1% vs 8.3%), household goods (1.5% vs 1.9%), miscellaneous goods and services (4.1% vs 4.7%), health (2.7% vs 2.8%), and education (5.3% vs 5.4%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in May, easing from a 0.8% increase in April.
