The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan eased slightly to 11.0% in May 2026, down from 11.4% in April, when it had reached its highest level in nearly three years. Price pressures softened in several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.8% vs 10.8% in April), housing and utilities (9.7% vs 12.7%), healthcare (11.4% vs 12.0%), recreation and culture (11.5% vs 11.7%), education (22.3% vs 22.4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (20.9% vs 20.4%).
By contrast, inflation picked up for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.7% vs 10.9%), clothing and footwear (7.1% vs 6.5%), household goods and appliances (9.3% vs 8.6%), and transport (11.8% vs 10.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% in May, after a 0.7% increase in the previous month.
