Brazil’s IBC-Br economic activity index increased 0.5% month-over-month in April 2026, recovering from a 0.7% contraction in March, though slightly under the 0.6% growth expected by markets. Industrial output rose 0.4% after a 0.2% decline in the previous month, while the services sector expanded 0.3%, following a 0.8% drop. The taxes component advanced 0.3%, reversing a 0.2% fall in March. In contrast, the agriculture and livestock sector was unchanged, after a 0.2% contraction in the prior month. Excluding agriculture and livestock, the IBC-Br increased 0.4%.
