Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan increased by 13.4% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from a 16.8% rise in April and marking the weakest growth in industrial activity since February. The slowdown was driven primarily by a 3.4% decline in output in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector (compared with a 3.6% drop in April). Growth also moderated in mining and quarrying (6.4% vs 7%) and in manufacturing (16.9% vs 20.7%). By contrast, activity in water supply, wastewater and waste management, and material recovery accelerated sharply, surging 27.3% following a 9.5% increase in the previous month. Over the first five months of the year, industrial output expanded by 14.4%, up from 12.9% growth in the same period a year earlier.
