FX.co ★ Norway Jobless Rate Falls to 5-Month Low

Norway’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 4.4% in May 2026 from 4.6% in April, marking its lowest level since December 2025. The number of unemployed persons fell to 135 thousand from 140 thousand in the previous month. At the same time, however, the employment rate slipped to 69.5% from 70.3%, as the number of employed individuals declined by 29 thousand to 2.911 million. The labor force participation rate also decreased, to 72.7% from 73.6% in April. In contrast, the youth unemployment rate, covering those aged 15 to 24, climbed to 14.6% from 11.1% in the prior month.
