Year-ahead inflation expectations in the United States, as measured by the University of Michigan survey, were 4.6% in June 2026, matching the preliminary estimate and down from May’s nine-month high of 4.8%. Nonetheless, they remained well above the 3.4% level recorded in February, before the onset of the Iran conflict. Meanwhile, the five-year inflation outlook was revised slightly lower to 3.3% from the initial estimate of 3.4%, and stood below May’s seven-month high of 3.9%.
