Producer prices in Hungary fell by 0.7% year-on-year in May 2026, following a 0.3% increase in April. Non-domestic output prices extended their decline (-1.8% vs -0.5% in April), while growth in domestic output prices moderated (1.9% vs 2.2%).
By sector, manufacturing prices dropped more sharply (-2.2% vs -1.1%), mainly due to steeper falls in transport equipment (-9.1% vs -6.1%) and machinery and equipment n.e.c. (-5.9% vs -4.4%). Price growth also slowed in mining and quarrying (0.4% vs 1.4%) and in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (7.5% vs 8.0%). In contrast, prices for water collection, treatment, and supply accelerated (2.7% vs 2.2%).
On a monthly basis, producer prices declined by 1.7% in May, the steepest drop since April 2023, after a 1.3% decrease in the previous month.
