Indonesia’s exports unexpectedly dropped by 5.73% year-on-year to USD 23.20 billion in May 2026, sharply reversing from the 21.98% surge recorded in April—which had been the strongest expansion since August 2022—and contradicting market expectations for a 6.4% increase. This marked the second export contraction of the year and the steepest decline since November. Non-oil and gas exports fell 4.50% year-on-year to USD 22.45 billion, following a 23.26% jump in April.
