Vietnam posted a trade deficit of USD 2.64 billion in June 2026, reversing from a surplus of USD 3.2 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports jumped 28.1% year-on-year to a record USD 50.79 billion, while imports climbed at a faster rate of 45.2% to an all-time high of USD 53.43 billion. In the first half of the year, the country recorded a cumulative trade deficit of USD 16.65 billion, with exports up 21.0% year-on-year to USD 266.52 billion and imports surging 33.4% to USD 283.17 billion. Over this period, the US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with estimated export value of USD 86.5 billion, while China continued to be the leading source of imports, with import turnover estimated at USD 115.2 billion.
